Overview

Acuity is seeking an experienced Systems Administration Team Lead to provide hands-on technical leadership and operational oversight for a team of Systems Administrators supporting the U.S. Department of State's critical enterprise IT infrastructure.

 

The ideal candidate is a highly technical systems administrator with demonstrated experience leading technical teams, resolving complex infrastructure challenges, and ensuring the availability, security, and performance of enterprise systems.

 

This is a working technical leadership position requiring a combination of advanced systems administration expertise, team supervision, incident management, and operational coordination. The Team Lead will serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues while directing daily systems administration activities, mentoring team members, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality IT services.

 

Successful candidates must be comfortable remaining technically engaged while managing team priorities, assigning work, monitoring performance, and coordinating with government stakeholders and other technical support teams.

 

We are hiring for the following shift:

 

Midnight shift - 11 pm to 7:30 am ET

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and provide day-to-day technical direction to a team of Systems Administrators supporting Department of State enterprise IT operations.

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, providing hands-on troubleshooting and resolution of critical infrastructure incidents.

  • Oversee administration, configuration, maintenance, and support of Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, SCCM, and associated enterprise systems.

  • Assign and prioritize technical workloads, monitor team performance, and ensure timely resolution of incidents, service requests, and operational deliverables.

  • Provide technical oversight for system upgrades, patching, configuration changes, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure improvements.

  • Develop and implement automation solutions using PowerShell and other scripting technologies to improve operational efficiency.

  • Oversee the collection, review, consolidation, and timely submission of team activity reports, technical status updates, and operational deliverables.

  • Track and report on team productivity, ticket resolution, SLA compliance, system performance, incident trends, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Prepare and deliver recurring and ad hoc reports, including weekly and monthly status reports, incident summaries, risk assessments, and performance metrics to program leadership and government stakeholders.

  • Ensure systems and team activities comply with Department of State security policies, technical standards, and established ITIL processes.

  • Collaborate with network, cybersecurity, engineering, and application support teams to resolve technical challenges and maintain system availability.

  • Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge-sharing practices.

  • Coordinate with government stakeholders and program leadership to communicate technical issues, operational status, risks, and recommended solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (or equivalent related field experience)
  • 5+ years Windows server experience (2012, 2016, 2019)
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) Years specialized experience in Systems Administration supporting MS SQL Server, MS System Center (SCCM), O365/SharePoint and MS Azure
  • Knowledge of Windows OS, Active Directory, Registry, Group Policy Objects
  • Proficiency scripting in PowerShell or equivalent

Desired Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Server or Infrastructure Certification(s) (or equivalent work experience)
  • Remedy Action Request Server, ServiceNow and ITSM experience
  • SQL database experience
  • ITIL® Foundations certification
  • Security+ certification
  • Prior experience in a consulting environment
  • Preference for experience with mentoring and training staff

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have active Secret and be eligible for Top Secret clearance

USD $130,000.00/Yr.

Max

USD $145,000.00/Yr.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position represents Acuity's good faith estimate of the compensation for this job title at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, contract requirements, applicable labor categories, and, where applicable, contract award and funding.
