The Technical Lead will provide technical leadership and hands-on engineering expertise supporting enterprise software modernization, cloud technologies, DevSecOps practices, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) initiatives.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong software development background, demonstrated experience with modern programming languages, cloud platforms, and DevOps automation tools, and the ability to lead technical teams in delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions.

This position requires a technical leader capable of mentoring engineers, resolving complex technical challenges, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and Government stakeholders to support mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership, direction, and mentorship to software engineers, developers, and DevSecOps team members.

  • Support the design, development, integration, and modernization of enterprise applications and shared services.

  • Apply hands-on software development expertise using modern programming and scripting languages, including Java, Python, and related technologies.

  • Lead technical efforts involving cloud-based solutions and infrastructure using AWS, Microsoft Azure, or comparable cloud environments.

  • Support, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, and other Git-based automation platforms.

  • Provide technical guidance supporting the modernization and migration of existing Jenkins pipelines to Git-native CI/CD environments.

  • Implement and promote DevSecOps best practices, including automated testing, code quality analysis, vulnerability scanning, and secure software delivery.

  • Collaborate with development and engineering teams to troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend sustainable solutions.

  • Review technical designs, code quality, and engineering approaches to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and security standards.

  • Support Agile development practices, including sprint planning, technical task estimation, solution design, and timely delivery of project milestones.

  • Coordinate with Government stakeholders, technical teams, and other contractors to ensure technical solutions meet program requirements.

  • Develop technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge-transfer materials.

  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, automation, operational efficiency, and software reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

  • Minimum five (5) years of hands-on software development experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in modern programming and scripting languages, such as Java and Python.

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, including AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.

  • Hands-on experience with DevOps orchestration and CI/CD technologies, including Jenkins and Git-based CI systems.

  • Experience supporting software development, integration, automation, and troubleshooting within enterprise IT environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor technical team members and provide guidance on complex engineering challenges.

  • Experience delivering technical solutions using Agile or similar software development methodologies.

  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage competing technical priorities and adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government or Department of State IT programs.

  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD migration, pipeline modernization, and automation using Groovy, YAML, Bash, or PowerShell.

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps tools such as SonarQube, Nexus Repository Manager, Nexus IQ, and ACCELQ.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Red Hat OpenShift.

  • Experience with software architecture, microservices, APIs, and enterprise application integration.

  • Knowledge of secure software development practices and federal cybersecurity frameworks, including NIST, FISMA, and FedRAMP.

  • Experience with automated testing, code scanning, quality gates, and continuous software delivery.

  • Experience supporting mission-critical, high-availability enterprise systems.

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with Government technical stakeholders and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position represents Acuity's good faith estimate of the compensation for this job title at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, contract requirements, applicable labor categories, and, where applicable, contract award and funding.
