Are you a UI/UX Designer who is looking to make an impact through the work that you create? Acuity is seeking a creative, innovative UI/UX Designer to aid in our delivery of responsive design, HTML5, and mobile environments, in support of a mission critical initiative for a highly visible Federal customer. The right candidate will be a strong advocate for simple, clear interfaces, who’s committed to delivering standards-based web applications that captivate and delight our customers.  Candidates MUST be available to work onsite in Herndon, VA 3-5 days a week.

Responsibilities

The UI/UX Designer duties are as follows:

  • Identify problems, propose solutions, recommend implementations, and execute UI/UX solutions to create a new user experience.
  • Create pixel-perfect, world-class user interfaces and original, eye-catching visual design. 
  • Collaborate with Product Owner and User communicate to design story boards, wireframes, journey maps etc. to promote user centered design and enable thorough understanding of user needs.
  • Deliver high quality work on tight schedules in a dynamic, agile product environment.
  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, but still be an advocate for the user.
  • Familiarity with 508 compliance best practices.
  • Demonstrate a command of usability and accessibility standards in partnership with visual and interface design disciplines and principles.
  • Have a broad experience and a deep understanding of users to recommend UI features that solve customer needs.
  • Be able to communicate design specifications/interactions for engineering implementation. 
  • Support, communicate, course-correct, and revise through the development phase.
  • Work with other designers to make sure style and branding is complementary across products and websites.
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve design problems, from both a usability and visual perspective.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or other comparable degree or experience in designing user experiences.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in the Information Technology field focusing on engineering projects with specific Business and UX Design.
  • 3+ years of architecture and UX design expertise for enterprise applications.
  • Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Balsamiq, Adobe Creative Cloud XD, Photoshop, Illustrator.
  • Ability to work well with customers and internal technology to articulate issues and communicate persuasively.
  • Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders.
  • Superb writing, communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and solve problems proactively.
  • A portfolio that showcases several of your most recent designs is required for consideration. Mobile site/mobile phone and/or tablet apps designs a plus.

 Preferred Experience:

  • Strong preference for those with 508 compliance knowledge.
  • Ideal candidate will have prior experience working with federal government clients.
  • Strong understanding of Agile development environments.
  • Relevant certifications in Human Centered Design, Usability, or other related topics.

Clearance Requirement:

  • Must have an Active DOD Secret clearance or higher.
