Overview

This position collaborates with all parts of Acuity to include the Technology Solutions Group (TSG), Business Development, Contracts, Recruiting, Business Unit leaders as well as external teaming partners. The Senior Proposal Manager reports to and receives direction from the Director of Proposal Operations.

Responsibilities

The Senior Proposal Manager operates in a hybrid role, leveraging their strengths in proposal management and coordination as well as content development and strategy. The Proposal Manager is responsible for all aspects of the proposal delivery process including RFP analysis, kick-off, initial response, refinement, and final proposal submission. Our team is small yet high achieving, and every team member is critical to our business development growth. Involvement in some capture activities may occur as workload permits. Our ideal candidate will have a blend of excellent business writing and project management skills, comfort in IT, and the ability to understand the complexity of our market and customer needs. A successful candidate will be excited to help create winning bids and will pitch in on any task big or small to support and promote our business. We need someone who is skilled in business writing, as well as extremely proficient in project management. This is an individual contributor position. The role is dynamic in nature, and the person in this role must be flexible to work on many different efforts, with varying levels of responsibility. To excel in this role, the candidate must have solid working experience providing cradle-to-grave proposal support.

 

Responsibilities to also include the following:

  • Drives the proposal process and is proactive to meet milestones.
  • Develops accurate and compelling technical, IT-focused proposal content (e.g., technical approach, management approach, past performance, and executive summary) in an iterative writing process. Ensures agreed-upon elements are incorporated into a cohesive and persuasive format.
  • Edits proposal content for effectiveness (e.g., clarity, readability, accuracy, persuasiveness, and compliance) as well as style (e.g., grammar, punctuation, word usage, sentence structure, and spelling).
  • Interviews SMEs to extract highly technical information and convert into effective proposal content per solicitation requirements.
  • Analyzes solicitations to develop detailed, annotated proposal templates.
  • Leads proposal kickoffs and color team reviews, working sessions with SMEs, executives, teaming partners, authors, and other contributors to develop storyboards, solutions, and graphics.
  • Composes team-wide strategic communications that are clear and concise, administers SharePoint pursuit sites, manages document version control, and coordinates review/recovery cycles.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must have a BS/BA in a relevant degree field from an accredited institution; or a combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5+ years of technical proposal writing and proposal management/coordination experience within the IT, software development, management consulting, and/or relevant industry and topics (e.g., ITIL, PMBOK, SDLC, Scrum, Agile development, cloud, and DevSecOps).
  • APMP certifications highly desired.

SKILLS AND TOOLS

  • Understanding of Federal Government contracting and proposal processes. Understanding of the Shipley methodology.
  • Advanced skills in writing, editing, and proofreading, including proficiency with at least one industry editorial style guide (e.g., MLA, Chicago, AP, APA).
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills with impeccable organization and attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to quickly digest information and produce organized, clearly written content with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced work environment supporting multiple proposals simultaneously, and meeting tight deadlines including occasional extended hours, evenings/night hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Working knowledge and usage of SharePoint (previous administration responsibilities is a plus).
