Acuity, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Senior Software Developer to join our engineering team!


As a Senior Software Developer, you will be providing on-going software development for enhancement and maturing of the Architecture and Engineering priority activities. These services leverage architecture and engineering capabilities to create defined outputs and/or facilitate defined Agile Project based Target Architecture and Engineering processes. You will assist by developing technology solutions which support the translation of business vision into realized IT capabilities utilizing Agile and DevOps methodologies.


You will be engaged in the following activities:  

  • Writing code needed to create new functionality or modify existing software packages, as well as create special-purpose software to ensure efficiency and integrity between systems and applications in accordance with industry best practices for Microsoft, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and cloud based system deployments.
  • Providing support for, and development of software applications to meet requirements of customers.
  • Creating, reviewing and/or maintaining operating systems, communications software, database packages, compilers, assemblers, and utility programs.
  • Providing support in developing the concept, interface design, and architecture of website and standalone applications.
  • Provide support for the implementation of interfaces to applications.
  • Designing and implementing software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses.
  • Managing software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
  • Estimating software development costs and schedule.
  • Reviewing existing programs and assisting in making refinements, reducing operating time, and improving current techniques.
  • Supervising the implementation and deployment for software configuration management.

 Other responsibilities to include but not be limited to:

  • Creating and leveraging existing data to inform decision making.
  • Working with subject matter experts to develop a data strategy where data can be used to generate various reports and visualizations
  • Specifying the inputs to be accessed by the system, design the processing steps, and format the output to meet the users' needs.
  • Reviewing, editing, and troubleshooting test scripts
  • Working closely with end users on project development and implementation
  • Interfacing with clients to define user requirements and to discuss issues, questions, and project status
  • Understanding system capabilities and how the capabilities can meet the client’s business objectives
  • Analyzing user requirements to identify implicit and ambiguous requirements
  • Composing technical documentation to detail the requirements in a clear and well-organized manner
  • Interfacing with the architecture and engineering teams to translate user requirements into system requirements
  • Participating in application validation to ensure that client’s requirements are met
  • Supporting IT Technical training, workshops, projects, and seminar related to IT prioritized topics.


  • Bachelor's Degree with experience in Information Science or a related Information Technology field
  • 5 – 10 years of application development, automation, and scripting experience (e.g., Java, Python) in Linux and Microsoft environments
  • Experience or familiarity with Agile and DevOps/DevSecOps concepts
  • Experience or familiarity with Cloud concepts and services.


Recommended Skills and Experience (not required…but desired)

  • Working knowledge and experience coding with the following technologies is desirable: Active Server Pages, JavaScript, C, C#, Python, Visual Basic, Bot Scripting, DBMS's (ex. - Oracle, Sybase, etc.) and knowledge of SQL, SQL server, No-SQL databases, to include open source software and containerization deployments
  • Working knowledge of relational and no-sql database environments, structured analysis, data modeling, information engineering, mathematical model building
  • Preparing cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses to help management decide whether implementing the proposed system will be financially feasible.
  • Creating and providing analytic reports, documentation, and presentations suitable for senior level technical briefings.


Required Clearance:

  • Must be US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain government suitability
