  • Overview

    Acuity, Inc. seeks a dynamic, self-motivated individual with experience and skills as a Senior SharePoint Administrator. This position is part of our State Department team and is located at the client site.

    The Department of State is strategically committed to fully utilize SharePoint so bring your experience in analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of SharePoint infrastructure, as well as, system health analysis, back-up/restore, security, governance and disaster recovery issues, to fully optimize SharePoint throughout the organization. 


    This is a high profile position which requires an experienced technical SharePoint subject matter expert who understands business requirements and can work closely with users, and our custom development team, so in addition to technical acumen, strong communication and interpersonal skills are needed.



    • Planning standalone, single-server and multi-server farm deployments in a VMware and physical server eco-systems, including content isolation, and trusted solutions.
    • Implementing SharePoint governance and SharePoint information architecture.
    • Translating information architecture to a physical and virtual architecture. 
    • Formulating a Business Connectivity Services strategy, planning both a Microsoft Excel Services Strategy and an InfoPath Forms Services strategy.
    • Planning for Service Applications, Web applications, and Content Databases.   
    • Administration of SharePoint users, groups, and service accounts. 
    • Planning security for site collections and for secure sockets layer (SSL). 
    • Planning for the integration of multiple authentication sources and types including NTLM authentication, Kerberos, Forms-Based Authentication (FBA), Claims Authentication (Identify and Access Management), and planning for Secure Store service.
    • Planning patching and maintenance along with knowledge of best practices for patching SharePoint 2010. 
    • Preparation of test plans for patching and maintenance. 
    • Planning records management, information management policies, information rights management.  Document management, metadata planning, information management policies (IMPs), implement data taxonomy structure, web content management (WCM) and Information Rights Management (IRM).
    • Administering the User Profile Service and planning for MySites.  Understanding user profiles and organization profiles, audiences, MySites, and social tags. 
    • Experience with SharePoint 2010 capacity planning and scaling both within a single farm and between two separate farms including consideration of storage, number of users, bandwidth utilization, intranet and extranet, and hardware.  Scaling Web Farm and Services Infrastructure.  
    • Experience with hardware upgrades, for example:  32- to 64-bit.  OS upgrades, in-place upgrade and database attach upgrades; MOSS upgrade, and SQLServer upgrade.
    • Designing a test and QA implementation plan, migrating content databases, moving content between farms, moving content to and from the farm, moving content within the farm, and rollback
    • Consideration of physical, virtual, and logical topologies in planning disaster recovery. 
    • Deploying and testing SharePoint Recovery Strategy, including back-up and restoring SharePoint content.  Managing the Recycle Bin. 
    • Developing and testing recovery strategy and implementation plan, server recover, site recovery, granular backup and recovery strategy (farm, farm configuration, site collection, Web applications, Secure Store Service, snapshots, content database, configuration database, custom features, solutions, code, service site, list, document library, performance site collections, and Recycle Bin).


    Required Skills

    • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
    • Experience with SharePoint 2010 enterprise content management and web content.
    • Experience with SharePoint Server 2007/2010 and SharePoint object models.
    • Experience with Moss 2007 Shared Services Provider (SSP) and SharePoint 2010 service applications. 
    • Experience with administering Active Directory, SQL Server and SharePoint user and group security principals.
    • Understanding of SharePoint 2010 logical taxonomy, i.e., service applications, Web applications, content databases, site collections, permission of sites and site administration.  Use of Content Deployment.
    • Knowledge of best practices for deploying libraries, folders, and documents sets. Understanding availability metrics and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO).  Backup and recovery of the SP Farm.
    • Experience with site collection security, taxonomy of SharePoint security groups, managed accounts, and site security.
    • Experience in using Microsoft and third-party performance monitoring tools. 
    • Experience with SharePoint Unified Logging Service (ULS) including how to set up ULS and how to effectively review the data.
    • Use of SharePoint Health Analyzer.  Use of SQL Server Management Studio and rebuilding SQL Server indices.  Search maintenance.
    • Experience with metadata and content types.
    • Experience with planning and maintaining enterprise wikis, Blogs, and personalization sites.
    • Experience designing Web Front End NLB strategy, SQL Server Failover Clustering strategy, implementing Database Mirroring (high availability and high protection), and whole farm failover cluster.
    • Experience architecting, installing, implementing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and reporting MOSS 2007 and SharePoint 2010 farms.
    • Experience migrating from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010 farms.
    • Experience with AvePoint.
    • Must have active Secret clearance

    Preferred Skills

    • Certified MCITP – SharePoint Administrator
    • Experience with Microsoft Silverlight and Microsoft PowerShell.
    • BS degree in related field; MS desired.
    • 5 or more years as a SharePoint Administrator in the Federal space.
